· June 2005: Move aboard and get acquainted with our new home

 

· July - August 2005: As weather permits, move to the East coast of Florida via the Florida Keys and continue north along the ICW.

 

· September - October 2005: Stay in Brunswick, Georgia to wait out the rest of hurricane season and prep the boat for the winter in the Bahamas.

 

· November 2005: Start heading south along the ICW to Palm Beach, Florida to wait for a favorable weather window to cross to the Bahamas.

 

· December 2005 -  March 2006: Abacos, Bahamas.  Possibly Eleuthera and the Exumas.

 

· April - May 2006:  Consider traveling north to the Chesapeake, since we missed it at the beginning of our journey.  We’ll see then…

Asking a sailor about his itinerary is a difficult thing.  Safe travel is dependent upon waiting for appropriate weather windows and keeping plans flexible to take advantage of the most favorable conditions.

 

When we embarked on this adventure in June of 2005, we planned on making it to Chesapeake Bay by mid-July and spending a couple of months there before heading back south and spending the winter in the Bahamas.  We did not expect the number of things to contend with along the way.  Things like a week stay in Hays, Kansas; waiting for parts in St. Petersburg; and then again in Ft. Lauderdale.  Nor did we expect to dance with the wackiest hurricane season on record which caused it’s share of delays as well.

 

That being said, we have outlined below our travels thus far and our expected path for our first voyaging year, subject to change of course:
